Under general supervision of Nursing Staff, recognizes and documents normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms through the use of monitoring equipment. Assists with the facilitation of unit communications and the meeting of patient needs.


Required Minimum Education

High School graduation (GED), successful completion of internal telemetry training within three months of employment, and current Basic Life Support Certification.

Required Minimum Certification

Current AHA BLS

Required Minimum Skills

Working knowledge of cardiac arrhythmias

Ability to use telemetry monitoring equipment

Ability to perform difficult manipulative skills such as the calibration of equipment and the setting of alarms

Ability to maintain and document routine nursing records/charts using simple statements and checklists

Ability to concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruptions

Ability to attend to tasks/functions for prolong periods

Ability to sit for prolonged periods and discriminate colors and close objects

Ability to distinguish sounds including alarms

Ability to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions

Ability to react quickly to emergency patient care situations

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, patients, families, and physicians
