Under general supervision, is responsible for the preparation, compounding, packaging, dispensing and record keeping of all drugs issued by the pharmacy. Oversees support activities delegated to pharmacy technicians and/or interns. Provides drug information to other health care professionals, clarifies physician orders, monitors patient drug therapy, and participates in teaching and staff development programs.


Required Minimum Education : Graduate from an accredidated school of Pharmacy - PharmD preferred.

Required Minimum Experience : Minium of 1 year hospital experienmce strongly preferred.

Required Minimum Certification: Current licensure in good standing as a registered Pharmacist in the State of Georgia (RPH).

Required Minimum Skills : Considerable knowledge of drugs, their uses, and possible adverse drug reactions.

Knowledge of pharmaceutical principles and practices.

Knowledge of Federal and State laws regulating pharmacy practice and the use of controlled substances.

Skill in compounding drugs and analyzing drug treatment profiles.

Ability to communicate to others the kinds, uses, potential effects of drugs.

Ability to train and supervise the work of others.

Must be able to demonstrate typing skills or computer terminal use proficiency.

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow workers, patients, families, and physicians.
