Responsibilities

WellStar is looking to add a Coordinator of Suicide Prevention to it's Community Education and Outreach team!!

Optimization of patient safety is a foundational component of WellStar’s clinical service lines. Through a Service Line-Community Health collaboration, the Suicide Prevention Coordinator (SPC) reports to Behavioral Health Service Line leadership and is responsible for recommending evidence-based suicide prevention practices across the health system. Responsibilities include the development of policies that improve safety across the continuum of care, provision of trainings and workshops to health system staff, and development of a proactive approach to deliver world class care that reduces the potential for self-directed violence across inpatient and ambulatory settings.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education : Graduation from a Masters program in Psychology, Professional Counselor, Social Work, or a related field.

Required Minimum Certification/Licensure : Licensed as (one of the following):

• LCSW - Licensed Clinical Social Worker

• LPC - Licensed Professional Counselor

Must have a current BLS card from the American Heart Association, prior to hire date.

Required Minimum Experience : 3+ years working as a mental health provider

Required Minimum Skills :

  • Ability to relate to and effectively communicate with people from all economic, racial, age, ethnic, and social groups

  • Knowledge of best practices related to suicide prevention

  • Commitment to developing and maintaining a culture of safety

  • Knowledge of the health system environment

  • Ability to function as a self-starter, while collaborating with a team

  • Ability to effectively deal with complex issues

  • Commitment to self-care

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff and service providers
