A Credentials Specialist functions under the direction of the Medical Staff Services Director and Manager and performs all duties as directed. This position is responsible for maintaining current Medical Staff and Allied Health information, updating credentialing database (Echo), processing Medical Staff, and Allied Health appointment and reappointment applications, processing verification requests, scheduling and coordinating Medical Staff meetings, maintaining Medical Staff calendars and Emergency Call Rosters, ordering supplies, processing Medical Staff deposits, check requests, and invoices as well as clerical skills which include data entry, running reports, answering telephones, e-mailing, filing, scanning, copying documents, working with Microsoft Office and other responsibilities as assigned by the Director or Manager of the Medical Staff Services Department. Each Specialist will only be responsible for those duties assigned. This position is a vital support position to the efficient functioning of the Medical Staff Services Department to ensure credentialing completed per standards and that all Medical Staff Leadership is supported in their organizational structure, meetings and responsibilities.
Required Minimum Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
Required Minimum Experience: Clerical skills with 1-2 years experience and hospital credentialing/Medical Staff experience preferred.
Required Minimum Skills: Ability to read, write & speak the English language; Must demonstrate personal attributes and behavior that contributes to a climate of excellence; Must possess strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills; Ability to multitask, prioritize, organize and meet deadlines essential; Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule with frequent interruptions, adapt to priority changes & to function in stressful situations essential; Must be detailed oriented; Personal time management skills required; Must perform duties and responsibilities timely and consistently; Ability to maintain confidential information essential; Basic computer skills required – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) & Credentialing Software (Echo); Excellent telephone/communication skills required; Basic clerical skills and ability to utilize E-Mail (Outlook) essential; Use of fax machines, copier, & scanners essential
